This year's FIA European GT3 series should be quite exciting, filled with all-new cars such as the Alpina B6 GT3, Ferrari F430 Scuderia GT3 and this, the Audi R8 LMS. The first of 12 R8 LMS' was delivered to a GT3 team in Italy with the chasis number "101".
The first Audi R8 LMS has been delivered and the customer is a racing team very close to the Ingolstadt-based automaker - Audi Sport Italia.The R8 LMS is a 10-cylinder(V10) 500 hp GT3 racer and, as part of its new customer sport program, Audi will be delivering 12 of them to 6 racing teams for the 2009 season.
Body shells for the R8 LMS are being made by Audi's quattro GmbH division in an area designed specifically for the customer sport program.
The Audi R8 LMS is set to compete in the GT3 class for the first time over Easter weekend (April 10-13) in the French GT Championship, the ADAC GT Masters in Nogaro, France, and in the Motorsportarena Oschersleben in Germany.
